"Ghostwood"
Furniture is handcrafted from unique, 100 year old pine and fir lumber. This wood is
reclaimed from the ruins of buildings in Jerome, Arizona and is well cured and dried from
exposure to the Arizona weather over generations of time.
This weathering
has imparted each board with unique patterns and colors, which are preserved and
highlighted in the construction and finishing process of each piece.
All of the furniture was inspired by the beautiful colors and textures of the wooden
ruins on the steep slopes of Jerome, a copper mining boomtown, founded in 1876 and
abandoned in 1953. Talented craftsmen have designed furniture which is so suited to
this 100 year
old reclaimed wood that the finished pieces look like antiques. The weathered condition of
the lumber has been preserved and the colors and patina are highlighted through the finish
process.
When ordering "Ghostwood" furniture you may state your preferences as to
lighter or darker woods, and as to smoother (less distressed) or rougher (grainier)
textured wood. Please keep in mind that each piece is individual in nature because of
variations in color, texture, and type of materials selected for a particular piece. The
wood used in this furniture may be as old as 120 years, and no two pieces look alike! This
is what gives this style it's character and charm, and separates it from any manufactured
product.
